Possibly you felt guilty about the high price you paid for your smart phone; did you know that it can save you up to $1,000 each time you are dispatched to pick-up a vehicle that is not perfect?
Here’s an illustration: the truck you have been dispatched to deliver is a tractor which has clearly been “bridged” in its history; the wind foil is broken; the cab is cracked; and these two parts have been bungee-corded together. The driver’s side step is gone; the battery box cover is gone; there are holes and dents on the rear and driver’s side of the cab. There are scratches and rust from prior collisions everywhere.
IF you decide to deliver this vehicle – despite its appearance – you take several photos of the vehicle, with local landmarks at the shipper location in the background of several. You send these photos taken with your smart phone to the safety department, even before you leave the shipper location, so that we have actual evidence of the condition of the vehicle at pick-up.
At delivery when the consignee tells you he will be filing a claim, we do not have a problem, as YOU have provided photo evidence that all the damage which might be the subject of the claim was pre-existing. The result is no argument; no expense; no problem with a customer whose business we want to keep.
If you have a smart phone, use it. If you do not know how to share photos, learn how. The camera in your smart phone will save you a bundle. It was not an expense; it was an investment.
